Artist’s Statement
As photographers we have many combinations of how we paint with light, brush size (grain), contrast, sharpness, texture, mood, and the canvas (film emulsion). All of these elements can be controlled at all stages of producing the image: a silver, platinum or digital print. We can achieve great images by being aware of our environment and the subject, be it natural or man-made. Awareness allows us to visualize what we see and what it is about what we see that we want to share with the viewer. All of the above are only achieved by experimenting with the materials of yesterday and today to create new materials for tomorrow. We are always be learning something new.
For over 20 years I have had the privilege to work with a wide variety of photographers and cinematographers in a wide variety of locations. I have found that we all share one very common thread, to captivate our viewers by what we have seen, felt and documented. We all use different equipment to help us communicate and create our own personal style.
